what is kombucha?

Kombucha (pronounced kawm-boo-chah) is a combination of sweetened teas that are fermented with a kombucha culture (also known as mushroom, mother, SCOBY). Kombucha contains all the benefits of tea plus beneficial organic acids produced by the culture. In a nutshell, it is a living beverage. 
 

what does it taste like?

Every kombucha brewer will have their own take on kombucha! We strive on creating kombucha blends that are clean and balanced - acetic, slightly sweet, and refreshingly light. Our kombucha is lightly carbonated and available in a variety of fruit flavours.

 

does it contain gluten, dairy or animal products?

No, our kombucha cultures only contain organic teas, sugar, fruit and filtered water.

 

does kombucha contain alcohol?

Yes, as with all cultured and fermented foods, a small amount of naturally occurring alcohol is typically present. The amount is typically less than 0.5% ABV.
 

what is the shelf life of kombucha?

Our kombucha is unpasteurized, meaning there is a live culture still inside. Unopened bottles have a 4 - 6 month refrigerated life.  

 

can pregnant or nursing women drink kombucha?

We do not recommend kombucha in general for pregnant or nursing women, or small children, due to the live culture, small amount of alcohol, and caffeine from the tea.
